First Reflection

Life is integrated with technology. People rarely get their information from anything but technology. For better or worse, I still prefer the dictionary rather than dictionary.com, but I know that being literate in the technological resources provided to us is important. It is important has it provides us with a much greater wealth of information. However, the knowledge to properly sift through the information is equally important.

Students have grown up with technology and technology is a part of their lives in every regard. To be a better teacher, it is vital that teachers become literate in using technology to reach their students.

Information Literacy in the Digital Age applies to our teaching environment. Most everyone has a computer at home, a cellphone, can access the internet anywhere they go. Our classrooms need to reflect this. Technology and teachers that know how to use it is important for not only engaging students but also for providing students with the resources they are familiar with.

  1. Yes, we are surrounded by information in many different forms and in someway, we need to be able to sift through it and determine what is good and bad information. We need to ask good questions and discover good answers that meet our specific needs. Next, we need to teach our students to make good decisions from good information. I cannot wait to explore this topic further!
