Blogs, podcasts, wikis, and other web 2.0 tools define the digital age as they help to connect people from all over the world. People can no longer just view information online but they can now include their own insights and collaborate online in real-time.
How can you use these tools to engage your students and improve student achievement?
Teachers can use certain tools that will allow students to be more collaborative when working through problems. Students can post questions and respond to one another not just in the classroom but also online, outside of the normal learning environment. By using the technology that students are already familiar with, teachers will engage students which will lead them to success.
Why is it important to incorporate social applications into your classroom instruction and student learning?
If we isolate our students we are not preparing them for the future. In order to be successful, students need to be able to work together. Using social applications with instruction will better prepare students for the type of cooperation and collaboration that they will meet in the future.
